HIALEAH GARDENS, FL - A search is underway for a vehicle that left the scene after a pedestrian was fatally struck in Hialeah Gardens this week.
WPLG reports that a man was waiting for relatives to pick him up near a nursing home along Frontage Road at about 6 a.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla. He was then struck a second time by an unidentified dark-colored vehicle.
The victim, identified as 67-year-old Julio Leon Perez, was pronounced dead of his injuries.
The Toyota driver remained at the scene, but the second vehicle left the area and is now being sought by police.
