MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL - A fiery multi-vehicle crash caused major traffic delays in a portion of Miami-Dade County Tuesday morning.
The accident happened on the Palmetto Expressway near Northwest 154th Street, according to NBC Miami.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Ford sedan lost control of the vehicle while heading north on the expressway. The Ford hit a median wall and then went over the wall, crashing into three cars that were driving south. One of the cars caught fire.
Several people were taken to Ryder Trauma Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The accident forced the shutdown of all southbound lanes and two northbound lanes on the Palmetto Expressway near the scene, causing backups that stretched for miles.
Lanes in both directions were reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
