POMPANO BEACH, FL - The man responsible for a fatal drunk driving collision in February is facing more than a dozen criminal charges, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Endail Thomas appeared in court on Tuesday, where a judge set his bond at $221,000.
The deadly crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on February 19, in the 600 block of NE 10th Street. Thomas, 26, was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano 96 mph in a 35 mph zone when he attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control of the car. The Nissan left the roadway and slammed into Aline Palla Acosta as she was rollerblading. The 27-year-old woman died at the scene.
Thomas and his 37-year-old passenger Melissa Gregoire were rushed to Broward Health North with critical injuries. Police questioned them as soon as they were healthy enough, and determined that they had been drinking prior to the collision. Thomas's BAC was .17 at the time, more than double the legal limit.
He was booked into jail on Monday, and face charges including vehicular manslaughter and DUI manslaughter.
