POMPANO BEACH, FL - Officials have taken a suspect into custody in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed two people on a scooter Sunday.
According to Local 10, 24-year-old Evil Danilo Morataya Perez was traveling northbound on South Dixie Highway when his Toyota Camry collided with the rear-end of a scooter on which two men were riding. Perez then fled the scene of the crash.
The impact of the crash killed both men on the scooter, one in his 50s and the other in his 40s. Their identities are being withheld at this time.
A witness to the crash led police to the suspect after locating Perez's vehicle several blocks away. Perez attempted to flee again when police began questioning him. He was caught and taken into custody on charges including failure to remain at an accident involving death and two counts for driving with a suspended license causing death or serious injury.
