POMPANO BEACH, FL - A crane nearly struck a Blanche Ely High School building after collapsing early Thursday morning.
According to Local 10, the incident occurred near Northwest 6th Avenue and 10th Street sometime before 8:00 a.m.
Witnesses at the scene could see the crane leaning up against a retaining wall in the moments following the accident. The crane operator was inside the cab at the time the accident happened, though he did not sustain any injuries as a result.
School officials say the crane was employed at the site of a new campus building when it toppled over. An investigation into what may have caused the incident is underway.
