MIAMI, FL - A single-vehicle accident on the Venetian Causeway Friday morning injured three people, the Miami Herald reports.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the incident at 1281 South Venetian Way in San Marco Island shortly before 6 a.m. A car crashed and caught fire, trapping three people inside.
The victims were rescued and transported to an area hospital. One of them, the car's driver, was listed in critical condition. The other two were not seriously hurt.
Entrances and exits on the causeway between Miami and Miami Beach were shut down following the crash and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.
The causeway later reopened but investigators remained at the scene of the accident.
