BROWARD COUNTY, FL - State troopers responded to the scene of a fatal collision along Alligator Alley early Monday morning, according to NBC Miami.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a Honda Civic crashed into a Hyundai Sonata on I-75 north near mile marker 42 shortly after 2 a.m.
A passenger in one of the cars, an 18-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim, whose name was not released, was a Naples resident. A 16-year-old who was driving that car was seriously injured and taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
The driver of the other car, a 26-year-old woman, was transported to the same hospital with minor injuries.
All lanes were shut down in the area of the crash for about five hours. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
