HOLLYWOOD, FL - Officials arrested the man responsible for fatally striking a Good Samaritan on I-95 nearly a year after the accident occurred.
According to Local 10, Sebastian Michel Jean-Baptiste, 21, was arrested Friday on charges of leaving the scene of a car crash involving a death, driving while his license is suspended, and reckless driving that resulted in the death of Pierre Michel Fortin on October 31st, 2019.
Police say Fortin was returning to his vehicle after assisting another motorist who had crashed on the interstate near Pembroke Road when he was fatally struck by a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by Jean-Baptiste, who was 20 at the time.
Witnesses to the incident say Jean-Baptiste slowed for a moment before speeding away from the scene. A passenger in his vehicle admitted that he and the suspect had been drinking prior to the accident. He was also driving with a suspended learner's permit at the time.
