MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL - A man and woman were killed in an accident involving a recreational vehicle on the Florida Turnpike Tuesday, WSVN reported.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the RV lost control while towing a Jeep in the southbound lanes of the highway near Southwest 123rd Avenue at about 4 p.m.
The RV went off the road, hit a concrete barrier, and caught fire. A man was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency crews extricated a woman from the RV; she died later at an area hospital. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
The Turnpike's southbound lanes were closed to traffic for several hours while firefighters extinguished the fire.
