FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - Officials said one person was killed and another was injured this weekend when a car crashed and burst into flames in Fort Lauderdale, WSVN reports.
According to police, the accident occurred shortly after midnight Saturday, when the driver of a a speeding white Porsche coupe lost control of the vehicle on Northeast Third Avenue near Sixth Street and struck a concrete light pole and a parked car. The Porsche caught fire, with the driver and a passenger trapped inside.
Two witnesses came to help and were able to extricate one of the occupants of the car, but the other could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The person pulled from the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Broward Health Medical Center.
