OAKLAND PARK, FL - A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a passenger train on Oakland Park Boulevard early Thursday morning.

According to Local 10, the incident occurred in the area of Oakland Park Blvd. and Northwest 17th Terrace at about 5 a.m.

Authorities have said the train was traveling southbound with about 50 passengers onboard when it struck a man standing in the tracks. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accidents.

No one else was hurt as a result of the crash. Tri-Rail has advised commuters that delays are likely throughout the day Thursday.
